GANGSTA GRANNY
ALTON TOWERS
I was asked to write the music for the new Gangsta Granny ride at Alton Towers, based on the books by David Walliams. Essentially an animation score, but built to have a bit of push and pull at the scene transitions based on how long the cars move through the ride – based on weight, occupants, congestion etc.
Perhaps the most tweaking of any gig I’ve done so far, culminating in a staggeringly boring day at Alton Towers, 90% of which was spent waiting in the rain for the ride to circle back to the start once again to make more timing notes, then an absolute nightmare trip back to Brighton with delays at every step and a 3am arrival. We suffer for our art!
Very happy with the final product though. I think the whole area has been brilliantly realised by a hardworking and talented team, and was very well received when it opened.
