Lucy Worsley is back on the detective trail, reinvestigating four dramatic chapters and iconic characters in British history – the Gunpowder Plot, Bloody Mary, Jack the Ripper and the legacy of William the Conqueror’s invasion of 1066.

We wanted to introduce something of a ‘house style’ for this series, to acknowledge the historical context of each story as well as the tone, but to tie everything together with a relatively modern take on things.

Modular synth, rebab, plucked piano strings, harp, the Pro-1 synth (or at least a wonderful software recreation of it from U-He) and a smattering of woodwinds make up the DNA of this soundtrack.
